This is a condensed version of a full-length show called "Toolbox" presented at a micro event inside of Laurie Shapiro's "Take Me to The Color" installations. A dance theater performance art piece journeys through trauma and the path to healing. It questions how we build tools to help ourselves. How does energy transmute? How do we handle life when it feels too much? Is meditation the next step to self-discovery? This piece poses many questions and shares non-verbal stories, sound, film, a staged installation, dance, and acting as a mode of new storytelling. Choreography + Direction: Olivia Mia Orozco Performer + Movement Collaborators: Julienne Mackey Filmed and Edited by Noel Rico
The Evolution of A Woman The road is long, but we have made it to many new landmarks of achievement. This year more than ever we celebrate women holding the highest positions politically and conversations on inclusion grow plenty. However, the acknowledgment, presentation, and collecting of female-identifying artists has a long way to go. This all-female show is the first official show in Laurie Shapiro’s Studio Gallery at the Lacy Studio Lofts. Featured artists include Ibuki Kuramochi, Annie Wood, Alexandra Carter, Ilaria De Plano, Lauren Jenkins, Alexandra Wiesenfeld, and Mary Margaret Groves. We believe the female perspective has been missing from art historically, and imagine a world where women truly are seen and appreciated equally. This show is curated by Olivia Mia Orozco, founder of Performative Pop-Ups, and collaborator with Ms. Shapiro both at Radiant Space and around Los Angeles.
